The life of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is a perfect model of simplicity, discipline, kindness, and faith. As Muslims, we try to follow his Sunnah — his way of life — not just out of love, but because it brings us closer to Allah ﷻ and adds barakah (blessing) to our everyday moments.
Whether you’re a busy parent or a student trying to improve your deen, here are simple, daily Sunnah practices you can easily add to your routine — and teach your kids too!

🌅 1. Wake Up with Gratitude
The Prophet ﷺ taught us to wake up with a heart full of thanks. The first thing he would say upon waking was:
“الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَحْيَانَا بَعْدَ مَا أَمَاتَنَا وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ”
Translation: All praise is for Allah who gave us life after causing us to die, and to Him is the return.
This short dua sets a positive tone for the day — full of gratitude and purpose.
✋ 2. Say Bismillah Before Starting Anything
Before eating, writing, driving, or even opening your phone — say بِسْمِ اللهِ (Bismillah). This simple habit invites Allah’s blessings into whatever you do and helps you stay mindful.

🍽 3. Eat with the Right Hand & Sit Down
The Prophet ﷺ encouraged us to eat with the right hand, while sitting down. He would say:
“كُلْ بِيَمِينِكَ وَكُلْ مِمَّا يَلِيكَ”
Translation: Eat with your right hand and eat what is in front of you.
(Sahih Bukhari)
Teaching this to your kids builds good manners and a deeper sense of following the Prophet ﷺ.
💬 4. Speak Good or Stay Silent
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“مَن كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَصْمُتْ”
Translation: Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should speak good or remain silent.
(Sahih Bukhari)
This Sunnah protects us from gossip, negativity, and hurting others with our words.

🌙 5. Sleep on Your Right Side & Recite a Dua
The Prophet ﷺ used to sleep on his right side and say this beautiful dua:
“بِاسْمِكَ اللَّهُمَّ أَمُوتُ وَأَحْيَا”
Translation: In Your name, O Allah, I die and I live.
Ending the day with this habit brings peace to your heart and reminds you of your connection with your Creator.
🧕 Help Your Kids Start Small
Let your children practice one Sunnah at a time. Maybe after dinner, ask them which Sunnah they followed that day. You can even create a small Sunnah Tracker together!

🌟 A Final Reminder
You don’t need to change everything overnight. The Prophet ﷺ said:
“أَحَبُّ الْأَعْمَالِ إِلَى اللَّهِ أَدْوَمُهَا وَإِنْ قَلَّ”
The most beloved deeds to Allah are those that are consistent, even if they are few.
(Sahih Bukhari)
Start with one Sunnah today — and let it grow from there.
